Aug. 4 – Susan Douglas, Chief Executive Officer, Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road

The Rotary Club of Lexington held its weekly meeting Thursday, August 4, at The Mane on Main and on Zoom. The program  featured  Susan Douglas, Chief Executive Officer, Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road.

With more than twenty years of experience in nonprofit leadership and development, Susan Douglas is a lifelong advocate for vital nonprofit causes. As Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road, Susan leads the premier leadership opportunity for female ambition in Kentucky, serving over 8,000 girl members across 67 counties. She is responsible for ensuring membership growth and sustainability and creating experiential leadership opportunities for personal growth – constantly Challenging Girls to Change Our World. With a deeply-held dedication to building a network of champions for girls, Susan strives to help girls and young women find the courage and confidence to explore their passions and cultivate change.

Under Susan’s leadership, GSKWR was recognized with the 2018 Brandon Hall Gold Excellence Award, Best Results of a Learning Program for a holistic staff retention and culture development program and the national 2017 Million Women Mentors Step-Up for STEM Award for innovative programming – a first for a Kentucky organization.

Susan is an alumnus of Leadership Kentucky and the High Impact Leadership Project, has been an adjunct professor at Georgetown College and is a frequent guest speaker at regional civic and business events, most recently presenting on the power of resiliency at the 2021 Commonwealth of Kentucky School Boards Annual Conference.
