While he would probably prefer to be outdoors enjoying all of the natural resources that the Commonwealth of Kentucky has to offer, today’s presenter, Brian Blank has been enticed indoors to talk about his work with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFW).  Brian currently serves as Director of Marketing for KDFW, a position he has held for thirteen years.

Brian’s passion for the outdoors started at an early age when his father would let him “tag along” on fishing trips on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries outside Baltimore, MD.  Early in his adult life he turned this passion into a career and he has never looked back, serving in various marketing, operations, and sales roles for leading retail, manufacturers, and distributors, and in his current role at KDFW. During his ten-year run at Pittsburgh-based Dick’s Sporting Goods he played an integral part in the creation and development of the Community Marketing Division. Brian was also responsible for adding to the Dick’s Sporting Goods assortment, a then-little-known apparel company from Baltimore, MD—known as Under Armour. He has presented multiple times at various outdoor industry consumer, and trade shows. His consulting company BAMS -Purepremium has and continues to work with several category leading companies.

Brian specializes in maximizing the Customers Experience (CX), and The Internet of Things (IOT), in a Digital First world. He has a knack for maximizing the Customer Experience in a digital first, mobile world, while meshing with traditional communication platforms that enhance the customer’s experience, no matter what generation they are from.  Since its creation in 2009, his Marketing team at KDFW has increased sales from $25.5 Million to $37 Million annually. His team now mines a 443,000-email data base, engages over 501,240 Facebook followers, has a twitter account with over 29,332 Followers, a YouTube channel with over 153,000 followers, and an Instagram platform with 20,900 followers.    His next challenge is to construct KDFW’s first eCommerce branded merchandise business, slated to launch in July of 2023. A not so easy feat in the arena of state government.

Brian resides in Mercer County Kentucky with his wife Tina and her two loving daughters Elizabeth 18 and Kalina 17. He is active as a Fourth-Degree member in the Knights of Columbus, the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. For relaxation he hunts, fishes and roots with all his might for his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers.
