The Rotary Club of Lexington has a long and strong association with Scouting America(formerly Boy Scouts of America. Edwin Gibson, chair of our Scouting Committee, reports that members of the Committee attended the 2025 Good Scout Award Luncheon at the Signature Club of Landsdowne. The annual luncheon celebrates the accomplishments of Scouts by featuring an outstanding young person, who describes his or her journey to the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouting teaches these impressive young people skills and abilities that will serve them well throughout their lives. Mr. Dennis Anderson, CEO of Anderson Communities, was also honored at the luncheon. Mr. Luther Deaton, Chairman, President, and CEO of Central Bank, presented Mr. Anderson with the award for his contributions to Scouting. Rotarians present at the luncheon from left to right are David Jones, Rob Kirkpatrick, Mary Ellen Fiflis, Edwin Gibson, Buzz Carmichael, Dan Miller, and Markus Cross, David, Rob, and Dan are Eagle Scouts. In addition, Dan and Buzz are Silver Beaver Award recipients, which is the highest council-level distinguished service award in the Scouting.
