June 20 - Rotarians Gather to Learn About Food Insecurity  The issue of food insecurity in Lexington has been on our Club’s radar screen for some time and has been identified as a possible subject of our next transformative mission.  To learn more about the issues, last Thursday, fifty Rotarians and guests heard from God’s Pantry CEO and Rotarian Mike Halligan and his team in a gathering at the God’s Pantry operations center. Also, we had a report from Harry Richart, chair of our Club’s Food Security Committee on our own Food for Families effort.   Rotary’s efforts were acknowledged by God’s [...]

July 10 – Installation of Officers and a Look at the Year Ahead

MORE ROTARY! “More Cowbell” is a hilarious comedy sketch that was originally performed on Saturday Night Live in 2000.  The sketch featured Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken in a studio recording the Blue Oyster Cult song “Don’t Fear the Reaper.”  The fictional music producer Walken repeatedly demands “more cowbell,” and Will Farrell responds enthusiastically in an over-the-top style until, rather than setting the beat, the cowbell completely dominates the song and the action in the sketch.  The skit’s popularity and the phrase “more cowbell” has morphed into a popular American catchphrase which is even defined in dictionaries as “an extra quality [...]

June 26- President’s Day- Bret Anderson, President, Rotary Club of Lexington, 2024-25

2025-06-23T13:46:31+00:00

A YEAR OF BOLD STEPS AND DEEPER ROOTS When I took the gavel last July, I knew leading the Rotary Club of Lexington would be an honor. I didn’t realize how much it would also stretch, inspire, and ground me. This year wasn’t about maintaining momentum — it was about charting a future. We began at a crossroads: a club with a proud legacy but faced with the question every legacy organization must confront — how do we evolve without losing who we are? I’m proud to say we didn’t shy away from that question. We faced it head-on with honest [...]

AN ANNUAL TRADITION: THE ROTARY PAST PRESIDENT’S DINNER The club held its annual Past President’s Dinner, Tuesday, June 3, at The Lexington Club. As is customary, the immediate past president “hosts” and all past presidents of the Rotary Club of Lexington, and members who served that role at other Rotary clubs are invited. It was wonderful to hear from twenty-one past presidents as they did a quick review of their year. It was remarkable to hear of [...]
